‘Fake Fly Tip’ event in collaboration with CLEAN DEVON, Teignbridge Council, Environment Agency, Forestry England, Local Councillors and the Rural Affairs Team Devon & Cornwall Police to raise the profile and awareness around the unscrupulous activity of environmental waste crime/fly tipping, highlighting the impacts and huge implications it has on wildlife, waterways and the wider community, including farmers and landowners.
Date: Tuesday 14th April 2026
Timings: 1100-1400hrs
Venue: Haldon Forest-Bullers Hill area
What3words: daffodils.bothered.bumping
The staged fly-tip is an innovative way to demonstrate what illegal waste dumping looks like and allows us to work with partners to have constructive conversations with members of the public about the importance of reporting fly-tipping. Fly tipping is a significant issue and one that can also have huge impacts and financial ramifications to private landowners, farmers, and rural communities. Furthermore, some waste products pose significant risks to public health, endangers livestock, crops, surrounding wildlife, and waterways.
Devon & Cornwall Police Rural Affairs Officers, PC Clarke Orchard and PC Lucy Wyatt will be at the event, affording opportunities for farmers and members of the rural/farming communities to discuss rural crime prevention measures, security advice/guidance and associated matters around rural crime (including Farm Machinery, Agri Plant & Agri vehicle theft, Livestock theft, Livestock Worrying etc…amongst other rural matters ).
Come along see us and have a chat. We look forward to seeing you there.
PC Clarke Orchard
Devon and Cornwall Police Rural Affairs Team.
